Registration
Go to Programs. Select your program, complete the registration form and proceed to payment online. Visa and Mastercard are accepted for online payment. Payment by cheque will be accepted at the Sail Training Centre office within 3 business days of registration.
If you would like to pay for your courses by cheque, please complete your registration online, and select “pay by cheque” at checkout. Please bring the cheque to the NSC office before June 15, 2024.
If you have forgotten to purchase After Sail during course registration, you can register online in the same place you selected your course.
If you would like to allow your child to sign themselves in and out of our programs without an authorized adult, please speak to our office staff and notify them of the arrangements.
- No refunds will be given after the start date.
- An administration fee of $75 will be charged for all cancellations.
- For cancellations prior to 30 days before the session start date, a refund minus the administration fee will be given.
- For cancellations within 30 days of the session start date, a refund minus the administration fee will be given when and if that position is filled and paid by another student.
- NSC reserves the right to cancel sessions with a full refund if minimum registration levels are not met. NSC will try to accommodate the participant in another session at the appropriate skill level on the same dates if possible.
All NSC membership categories are now eligible for the NSC member discount on youth sailing courses. Be sure to enter your valid and current membership number into your profile when registering for youth courses to become eligible for the discount.

Day-to-Day
Students range from 6-17 years of age. Specific age recommendations are listed under Courses.
Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
If you require your child to be dropped off between 8:45 and 9 and or you are unable to pick up your children before 4:00 p.m, each child should be registered in the AfterSail program. This extends pickup to 5:30 p.m. Children are supervised by After Sail staff and volunteers. After Sail is an additional service which can be purchased at the time of registration.
Sunscreen, water bottle, nut-free lunch, bathing suit, change of clothes, warm sweater, rain jacket.
All sailors must wear closed-toed shoes – no sandals allowed. Old running shoes or water shoes are perfect. NSC has a few life jackets but it’s preferable if sailors bring their own clearly labelled with their names.
*A note about personal property
Sailors are responsible for the care of their personal items. We suggest that unnecessary items or any valuables be left at home. Please label all personal items. NSC is not responsible for lost or stolen property. All of our classrooms have either lockers or hooks for each athlete.
We encourage students to return all belongings to their bags when they are finished with them as this keeps our environment safe and tidy.
Any found items are placed in our Lost & Found bins and will be kept until the end of the sailing season – any unclaimed items will be donated. We encourage everyone to look through our Lost & Found bins before the end of their session.
Students need to bring their own nut-free lunch daily.
CANSail Program
- Our goal is to provide an enjoyable, safe, learning adventure for every participant. Sailors begin the day by rigging their boats on arrival in preparation for lessons on shore and on the water. Instructors mix in lots of fun activities throughout the week to foster teamwork and camaraderie. The students sail mornings and afternoons with a 1-hour break for lunch. Boats are de-rigged before heading home.

A typical day varies depending on the weather. Since we are an outdoor camp, we watch the weather continually to ensure everyone’s safety and direct programing as necessary.
Adventure & Discovery Program
- Our goal is to provide an enjoyable, safe, learning adventure for every participant. The day typically starts with a get to know you activity in their groups followed by group start around the flag. At this time we will give positive feedback from the day before and share the plans for the day.
- 9am – Meet up with your team
- 9:15 – Group meetup
- 9:30 – 1st activity of the day
- 11:00 – 2nd activity of the day
- Lunch – 30 minutes
- 1:10 – 3rd activity or full group game
- 2:30 – 4th activity
- 3:30 – Clean up grounds and prepare for home
- 4pm – Home

Yes! Every sailor must sign in, and be signed out each day. Any person who is authorized to pick up your child must connect with your child’s Coach or Camp Leader. We ask that sailors who have to leave the Sailing School early or arrive late, go directly to the office in the Sailing Training Centre to ensure proper sign in procedure is adhered to.
Please note that staff are not responsible for program participants who leave their group without permission, or who remain at NSC after program hours.
Sometimes it’s too windy, there’s no wind, too hot or a summer storm is brewing. There are many options to keep the sailor engaged from other outdoor activities, games, indoor lessons or even a movie.
Extra Curricular Activities!
Included in your course registration fee is Monday night Racing for CANSail 1 and 2.
A great way to practice sailing and learn racing tactics, students can participate each Monday evening during the summer so long as they’re registered in our 2024 CANSail 1 or 2 programing. Races begin at 6:00 p.m. Participants must be currently enrolled in CANSail 1 or in CANSail 2.
To reserve a boat and to take part you must be receiving our weekly (during the season) Newsletter the “Broad Reach”. You’ll find important information about the camp and a spot to register your athlete weekly.
A minimum of 6 participants is required for the program to run max 18 depending on staffing levels. Must register the week.
This is our NSC club race night for dinghies. We want to encourage our athletes to continue to practice their skills so we started this program in 2023. All athletes who are enrolled in CANSail 3, 4 and our Race Team are able to access a C420 find a partner and participate in this weekly race night. This is Included in your registration fees. There are a limited number of boats so you must sign up on the given week to participate. Sign ups are done through the Broad Reach (our newsletter) so make sure you’re signed up! BROAD REACH SIGN UP
