On February 28th, 2014 Sail Canada hosted their annual Sail Canada Awards evening in Toronto.

Representatives from NSC Kerri Weller, Callum Smith, and Amie Renaud attended the event to accept the William Abbott Sr. Trophy for Sail Training Program of the Year 2013. NSC representatives were joined by past Sail Training Director Hugh McGugan.

Kerri, Amie, and Callum were honoured to have received this award on behalf of the Nepean Sailing Club, and all of the hard working staff and volunteers that made our Sail Training programs happen.

Kerri Weller, NSC’s Director of Sail Training, had this to say upon being informed of our winning:

“On behalf of the fantastic instructor team at NSC’s Sail Training Centre, NSC Directors, staff and volunteers, thank you so much. We are deeply honoured to have received this award.

“Hugh McGugan, our Learn to Sail Director 2011-2013, deserves much credit for his leadership on this portfolio. Amie Renaud, our Head Instructor 2012-2013, and her team have been instrumental in the delivery of a great sail training program. Finally, Peter Wood, Fraser Robidoux and the ABLE Sail volunteer crew give tirelessly to volunteer their sailing and racing expertise to the Able Sail and the Paralympic programs.

“I am so very proud of our sail training team, volunteers and sailors!”
