Experience the Thrill of Sunset Sailing on the Ottawa River!

The NSC Pinhey’s Point Sunset Time Trial is a thrilling sailing race that allows participants to enjoy the stunning sunset on the Ottawa River while competing in an exciting up-river race. Taking place in late June or early July, this race covers a relatively short distance of approximately 14 nautical miles, providing an excellent opportunity for families and newcomers to experience up-river sailing on a summer weekend.

The race starts around noon outside the NSC harbour, where sailors pass by Aylmer Island and continue upriver towards Pinhey’s Point, rounding a mark before turning downriver for the homeward-bound leg to the finish line. The sight of boats passing the turning mark in front of the anchorage often elicits enthusiastic cheering and attracts cameras to capture the moment.

The NSC Pinhey’s Point Sunset Time Trial is part of the Interclub Long Distance Series and is the shortest among NSC’s up-river Long Distance races. It offers a unique challenge and an opportunity for sailors of all levels to compete and enjoy the beauty of the Ottawa River at sunset.

Participants have the chance to compete for the Nautilus trophy, awarded to the first NSC PHRF or JAM boat based on combined corrected time. The top three boats will receive keepers as recognition for their achievements.
