Fleet has structured a palette of racing training activities for you. Our first offering is online virtual racing practice, using Virtual Regatta Inshore and Google Meet. There will be live coaching. No cost to you – it is all included in your NSC membership. Open to anyone at NSC who is interested in racing.

Connect, learn and have a blast

This is more than just racing; it’s a chance to connect, learn, and have a blast with great people from the NSC community. Whether you’re an experienced racer, a newbie, or just keen to learn, this series is the perfect chance to develop or keep your sailing skills sharp during the off-season. Don’t miss out on this fun opportunity to sail, socialize, and strategize with fellow NSC members online!

What you need to do

Before your first session, you must create a free account at Virtual Regatta Inshore and take the “Sailing School” there to learn how to use the virtual sailboats. This lets us focus on sailing, not tech support. In fact, if you wish, it’s a good idea to use the VRI website and join others’ races there before our first race so you can get accustomed to it. But not to worry if you don’t!

We connect on Google Meet to be in touch while we play. Please email Stephen Kidd for the link. You will need a good internet connection and a computer that’s not too too old.

Once you are in the Google Meet session, we will tell you the code to join our Virtual race.

Racing Practice Objectives

The objectives are to provide an off-season opportunity for NSC racers and volunteers from different fleets to learn/improve their racing strategies and tactics using online, multi-user, internet hosted software that simulates a sailing regatta environment; and encourage interactions between sailors from different fleets at both a social and technical level.

Time

Four Tuesday evenings 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Jan 9, Feb 6, Mar 5, Apr 2, 2024
