The next time you are in the Clubhouse, look up at the ceiling and see our collection of burgees.
One of the traditions of sailing is the exchange of burgees with other sailing clubs. NSC has over 70 burgees from many parts of the world. Most of these have come via a burgee exchange involving members who in their travels visit a sailing club and exchange an NSC burgee for the one from the visited club. As a result, we have burgees from Canada, the U.S.A., several countries in Europe, Thailand, and Australia. In addition we have a number that we don’t recognize.
Consequently, if you plan to visit another sailing club on your travels, contact the Director of Public Relations at publicrelations at nsc dot ca to acquire a burgee to exchange. Bring back a new one for our collection and we will proudly hang it in the clubhouse.
Here are pictures of our current collection. If you know which club is represented in some of our mystery burgees, drop a note to publicrelations naming the group and burgee number and we’ll put the record straight.
