Racing 201: Strategy, Tactics and Rules – New to racing? Just getting started? Bringing new crew on board? This presentation is designed to orient sailors to the racecourse and offer some perspectives on strategy and tactics for racing  on Lac Deschenes, especially in mixed fleets like we do. Focusing on a racecourse’s “hotspots” – such as the start and leeward roundings – each scenario will also explore rules that apply in these scenarios.

Intended for Novice to Intermediate racers and, perhaps for everyone’s “new crew”.

Corey Glyn, in addition to being this year’s NSC Commodore, races a J/30, “HiJinx”, on Tuesday nights in PHRF and crews on a C&C-27, “Makai-27” on Thursdays in One-Design. He’s been active racer ever since 1998 when his pals tricked him in to crewing on a Shark.

Greg is a Sail Canada National Judge and Regional Race Officer. He raced many major Lake Ontario Races in his competition days. He now returns to these events and others on the national stage as a judge or race official. Still he finds time to add to his beer glass collection on Lac Deschênes.
