Update 2014-05-21: As of May 21st, water levels are within a few centimeters of the near record peak reached last year. However, in 2013, the peak was reached May 1st. Now, at 59.74 m, the water level is more than 50 cm above where it was on May 21st last year, and 1.8 m above datum* (57.9 m).

At this time of year, there is always lots of interest in the water level of the Ottawa River. Members can view current and historic data on the Water Levels page (see link from the Weather page).

Water levels have not reached the near record levels reached in 2013 (peak of 59.76 m), and they have fallen 16 cm in the last five days, but they are currently still 1.5 m above datum. For reference, the BYC gates cannot come out until the water level reaches approximately 59.0 m.

* Original post incorrectly suggested datum was 57.0 m.
