Presented by Kevin Davis. Kevin will explain the basic principles of a 4 stroke diesel engine, so that you can understand what it needs to run and provide reliable service. He will explain how the diesel fuel system works, what an injection pump is and how it operates. He will cover how to change a fuel filter and bleed a diesel fuel system and why this is necessary. He will answer any other questions you may have about diesel engines.

In 1969 he travelled to Ghana in West Africa to teach a City and Guilds course in auto mechanics for 2 years. He remained in Ghana until 1981, teaching on the job to mechanics in the informal sector. After resuming work as a mechanic on his return to Ottawa in 1981, he took evening classes in stationary engineering at Algonquin College. In 1985 he joined Public Works Canada , where he worked at maintaining equipment in buildings until his retirement in 2006.
