Thanks to a great team of NSC volunteers, another fantastic Turkey Trot race and feast took place this Thanksgiving Monday at our club. It was another gorgeous, warm, sunny, fall day, perfect for the many members and their families who turned out for a little on the water fun.

Thanks to Doug Patterson and his RC team who set and ran the pursuit race with clockwork precision, staying out there till the last boat came home. For those who participated, you couldn’t miss the start line this year, as RC was the biggest, baddest RC boat I’ve ever seen.   It even came complete with sound machine, live music, and a dance floor!   I have not seen the final tally yet, but there must have been over 30 NSC boats that came out to trot around the racing circle.

Congradulations to Matt Davidge and Doug McGhan who were the first boat overall across the line this year, and led the Dinghy/Cat class (again!). Though technically, I think we should ban little red dugout canoes with oversized sails next year.   Or anything Matt sails for that matter! :)   And congradulations to team “Snoekie” who led the PHRF/JAM class home to the finish.   The final exciting results will be posted here  soon for your viewing.

Great NSC days and events like this year’s Turkey Trot don’t just happen on their own, but only with the generous volunteer contributions of our NSC members. On behalf of the participants, we’d like to thank this year’s kitchen team of Leo Belleperche, Janice Bruce, Bruce Burns, Jenn Holliday, Nick Pedneault, and Janice Tremblay who remained behind on shore to prepare and set out a fantastic feast! Also, our sincerest thanks to Gene Bruce, who organized the supplies, and our volunteer Ham/Turkey cookers Ross Ernst, John Perry, Tom Miller, Jay Morden, and John Verbaas.

We also had a special treat this year with donated pies for dessert from Perkins Family Restaurant and new members Collin and Carolyn Kinsman. Our generous thanks to them as well.

We look forward to doing it all again next year!  Gobble, Gobble, Ross E.
