Thanks to a great team of volunteers, another fantastic member’s NSC Turkey Trot Race and Feast took place this Thanksgiving Monday. Though a little cooler than usual, it was another bright sunny windy fall day  for members and their families who turned out for a little on the water fun at NSC’s traditional closing sailing fun event.

Once again, this year’s Turkey Trot had a large turnout of over 35 boats ranging from Albacores, Catamarans, Keelboats large and small, and a number of the newest boats in harbour including cruising Trimarans (see Pat Morden’s pic here). Even some of the Cabin Cruiser’s turned their heaters on and came out to watch the fun.  Although all who were able to come out for a gorgeous fall social sail were winners, the finishing results are also available.   Congrats to lead Dinghy/Cat “Shango” and Keelboat “Snoekie” who squeaked home just ahead of the pack.   No doubt your start times will be under review for next year!

Great NSC days and events like Turkey Trot don’t just happen on their own, but only with the generous support of our volunteer NSC members, staff, and this year’s prizes sponsor Slipacoff’s Premium Meats.   Thanks to Chief TT Race Officer  Doug Patterson and his RC team of dignitaries who ran the pursuit race after weeks of careful research into the latest handicaps for anything with a sail at our club.

On behalf of the participants, we’d like to also thank this year’s team of on-shore volunteers Leo Belleperche, Jenn Holliday, Fran Kelly & friend, and others who remained behind to prepare and set out a fantastic feast!   Also, our sincerest thanks to Chef Tim Barton who organized the supplies, and our volunteer Ham/Turkey cookers which included  Leo and Jenn, Peter Huszcz, Fran and Jim Kelly, the Norwood’s, and John Perry.

We look forward to doing it all again next year! Gobble, Gobble, Gobble! Ross E.
