The Ottawa Fire Service Ice/Water rescue team has specialized equipment and training, and are designated first responders on the Ottawa River, and other bodies of water within the city boundaries.
There was a great turnout on the NSC grounds July 9 and 16 with a total of some 100 members of the public watching, interacting and some holding purple martin chicks. 236 chicks were banded there.
James Pole reports the Bifurcation mark is now lit, as are our private channel buoys.
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of NSC member and former Social Director, Carolyn Gardner, on Saturday, February 16, after a courageous battle with cancer. She will very much be missed. The Canadian flag on NSC’s flagstaff is flying at half mast to honour Carolyn.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daphne Beryl Kirk-Dain on December 25, 2018 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. A celebration of life will take place at the Nepean Sailing Club, 3259 Carling Avenue, Ottawa on Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 3 to 6 p.m. Daphne’s obituary is available here.
