BYC hosted the first Queen’s Park Race on Sunday, July 17; this was the third race of the Interclub Long-Distance (ILD) Series. There was almost no wind at the scheduled warning time of 1330, but nevertheless, the sequence was started just as enough wind filled in to barely move the ~15 boats off the start line.

Peak gusts over the next 5 hours reached about 3 knots, from a variety of directions, allowing for lots of opportunity to swim during the race, in the baking heat. Only the lead 5 boats made it around the windward mark; J-Crue rounded at 1723, followed immediately by Blue Zulu and Kelsea. Windscot and BZ had retired by 1810, but shortly thereafter, a nice southerly at ~10 knots filled in, allowing Peppermint, J-Crue and Kelsea to finish between 1932 and 1942. Congratulations to the crew of Peppermint who corrected out way ahead! Results to be posted on BYC’s website.
