Saturday, July 16th, began with bright sunny weather and calm, near-perfect conditions for swimming for the 15th annual Bushtukah Bring on the Bay Open Water Swim in support of Easter Seals. After a 2-year “COVID” pause, almost 170 volunteers came out to support the swimmers. Volunteers anchored their boats along the swim line, set the course, blew up the marks, set out the marks & retrieved them, found places for swimmers to park, organized the swimmers down to their starting mats, accompanied challenged swimmers, were ready to provide medical services, plus a myriad of other jobs. They did it all! It’s important to acknowledge that the success of the swim comes from all the volunteers who contributed! This year, we even had our own Nepean Sailing Club staff team swim ably coached by James Pole!

While we always have more swimmers sign up than actually get to the starting lines, nevertheless, we had a great turnout of participants this year, with 385 completing the 3000m route, and 110 swimmers completing the 1500m route. Overall, we raised about $60K for Easter Seals Ontario.

On behalf of the Swim organizers, thank you so much for making this year’s Bring on the Bay charity swim a huge success!
