NSC will host an Ontario Sailing sponsored session of the Sail Canada Level 1 & 2 Race Officer Courses, running 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday March 28 and 29th, 2015. This is the only course scheduled for Eastern Ontario and is open to all interested people.

If you have volunteered on a race committee and would like to learn more, this 2 day course is for you. Completing these courses will provide you with a solid understanding of the conduct of a race and is a prerequisite for becoming a Level 2 Club Race Officer.

If you have no race committee experience, but have an interest in learning key roles and skills, the half-day Level 1 portion on Saturday morning is for you. Upon completion, you are an Assistant Race Officer.

The Race Officers are responsible for conducting sailing races. Their race committee team consists of people in several different roles.

The course co-conductors will be Ross Cameron and Tom Babcock. Cost is $70.06/person (including HST). Lunches may be purchased from the NSC weekend menu. More information is available at Course list and description and applicants must register in advance online at Ontario Sailing (choose the appropriate venue), or by telephone at 1-888-672-7245 ext. 221.

NSC members may purchase a copy of the required Racing Rules of Sailing book for $10 (50% discount) from the NSC office. Just show proof of course registration.

Space is limited.

Local contact/coordinator: Rick Anderton. (E-mail Rick if you’re interested only in the Level 1 portion.)
