Britannia Yacht Club (BYC) is offering the Sail Canada/ISAF-approved offshore personal safety training course on the weekend of April 5&6, 2014.

This course might be of interest to sailors whose interests range from ocean racing to improving their safety skills and seamanship. It provides two days of theoretical and practical personal offshore safety and sea survival training that prepares participants to negotiate passage making and ocean racing with competence and confidence. The format is a combination of class lectures, life raft and in-pool wet drills, and outdoor safety flares demonstrations.

This course is endorsed by Sail Canada and leads to the award of an ISAF personal offshore safety certificate of competence. The international certificate is valid for a period of five years for offshore racing. For a detailed course description, see www.seasurvival.ca/course-information.html.
