Another Nepean One-Design regatta is in the books. The Co-chairs agree this was a success. A huge thank you for the support NSC staff provided during the planning and the execution of the regatta. The volunteers can never be thanked enough; when called upon from Ted or myself you all stepped up to assist with RC duties or the event table with enthusiasm and grace. To Bill Visser (PRO and RO for Bravo course) and Tom Shenstone (RO for Alpha course), without your support this regatta would struggle to operate. To BYC (Gunsmoke and BYC Whaler), your contribution was greatly appreciated. And we cannot forget CVGR for the loan of your club’s RC boat. Thank you. Every year you are all there for us. Thank you, too, to Trevor Whitehouse (Chief Scorer) and Hugh Morrin (Chief Judge) and team.
The Commodore stated contribution from volunteers is what continues to help grow events at NSC. To all the sailors who competed in the challenging wind Saturday and Sunday, without you there would be no reason to hold a regatta.
From Ted and Scott, THANK YOU for the opportunity and the trust you had in us to Chair the NOD regatta.
See you all again for NOD 2023.
Ted Ceelen and Scott Murphy
2020 NOD Co-Chairs
Editor’s Note: NOD 2022 ran June 18-19, with some of the coolest and windiest conditions in memory. 54 boats competed in 8 fleets. Saturday saw winds from the NW at ~25 knots, with gusts well over 30, and temperatures peaking at 16°C, though it felt colder. Alpha course managed to get in four races for the J-22s and J-80s, but on Bravo course, only one race was completed, and only for the Vipers. It was a challenging day, for both the competitors, and the RC volunteers! The conditions were a little more manageable on Sunday, with winds again out of the NW, at 15-20 knots, with gusts to 25, and temperatures rising to ~18°C by the time the boats came off the water. Check out the Results on the Nepean One Design Regatta web page.
A huge thank you to Ted & Scott for their monumental effort in organizing this event.
