Wed, May 1st: David Searle: The 2013 Racing Rules.
The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) are the rules that govern the conduct of the sport of sailboat racing and include the so-called “right of way” rules for boats that are racing. The rules are written by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) and are published every four years in the year following the Olympic Games. The current version of the RRS – “The Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016”, came into effect on 1 January 2013 and can be found online, or better yet, pick up a copy of the new Rule Book from the office ($21.00 each).

What does this mean to us racers? We are fortunate to have David Searle speak to us about what rules have changed, what these changes are and how these rule changes will affect us as we go into the 2013 sailboat racing season.

This is the last in the series of the 2013 Winter Speakers Program. A special thank you to Ken Aalders for putting together this great series!

The Galley is now open from 4:00 p.m. onwards, so feel free to join us for a bite and a beer before the talk, which will start at 7:30 p.m. Bring yourself. Bring your friends. Attendees are asked to make a donation to support youth sailing.

We hope you’ll join us!
