The Nepean Sailing Club is hosting the 2022 National Capital Cup with competitors from across Ontario and Quebec. It is Ottawa’s biggest regatta for sailors with physical disabilities and is a preparatory regatta for the national Mobility Cup in September.
The National Capital Cup has been an annual event since 2004. The regatta’s sailors will race in Martin 16’s, an all-Canadian design by noted Vancouver Yacht Designer Don Martin. Through the use of innovative technology, Canada has become a leader in making sailing accessible to people living with disabilities. The Nepean Sailing Club is considered a centre of excellence in Ontario for disabled sailing and has sent representatives to National and World Sailing Championships. The Mobility Cup takes place at Northern Yacht Club in Cape Breton, NS, August 29 – September 2, 2022.
