Come join your friends at NSC for the annual Midnight Madness race on Friday, August 22 – warning signal will be at 10:00 p.m.!

Midnight Madness is a fun NSC event open to all registered racers, where we race in the dark (yes, that’s right!) on Lac Deschenes around brightly lit marks. Results are based on your normal PHRF handicap, either PHRF or JAM. The course will be set using the permanent Racing Circle with the final course determined based on wind direction and strength, and announced at the skippers meeting before leaving the dock. The race lasts approximately one hour before returning to harbour to socialize with your fellow daring and skilled sailors afterwards in the NSC lounge.

Traditionally, boats have been known to festively decorate themselves with glowsticks and Xmas tree lights. There will be a brief skippers meeting at 9:00 p.m. in the Harbourview Hall to inform sailors of the course and review some basic safety protocols. And the Galley will be open for dinner until 9 p.m. for those wishing to grab a bite before heading out racing.

Registration is simple. Just show up before 9 p.m. at the NSC Lounge with your sail number and PHRF handicap to enter your boat – see Ross Ernst. The “After Hours Bowl” is awarded to the top finisher (all classes combined) with keepers for the top three finishers.

The forecast is for a warm, clear, moonlight night, so bring your friends and come try something new, or do it again if you have experienced this fantastic unique NSC event before!
