James Pole and Paul Wagner tag team to present the ins and outs of your rights and obligations as members when navigating the harbour or using the NSC Yard.

James and Paul will bust some myths and provide all the information you need to get your boat into the water in Spring and out of the water in the Fall, as well as everything in between. They’ll cover how to access and use the extensive facilities at NSC as well as the various services and volunteer groups that are available to members.

Whether you’re new to the Club or a long time member, it’s a great way to start thinking about launching your boat (yes, we realize it’s in a few months, but it’s never too early to plan!) and share experiences with fellow members.

James Pole is our Marine and Property Manager, having taken over the helm from Gene Bruce in November 2021.  James grew up at our club, working as a bosun and taking sailing lessons through the school. After serving in the Royal Canadian Navy as a hull technician, James retrained as a marine mechanic and has worked at a couple of local marinas. NSC benefits from his vast experience and his familiarity with working in a highly engaged volunteer-based Club!

Paul Wagner has been a member of NSC since 2004 and has volunteered in many capacities, including Board Secretary, Public Relations Director, Member of Harbour Committee and has served as Club Launch/Haulout crane chief for over a decade.

Currently “between boats”, Paul began his sailing “career” on his uncle’s McVay Falcon 16 in 1980.  Since then he has raced in a number of different fleets, owning a Paceship 23 and a C&C29.  When not volunteering at the Club, he can be currently found on the docks trying to hitch a ride!

The meeting is free to attend, but we ask that you consider making a small donation. All proceeds will go to the NSC Legacy Fund, which supports competitive sailing for youth and Able Sail members.

After registration, you will receive an email with a link to attend the Zoom meeting.

The meeting starts at 7.30 pm, but we recommend that you check in to the “waiting room” up to 15 minutes early to check your connection for good quality video and sound. We will be playing content that will enable you to test.

During the webinar, you can use the Q&A button to ask questions at any time. The moderator will relay any questions to the presenter at the end of the presentation.
