It is with great sadness that we report the passing of long-time NSC member Larry Nicholls, skipper of C&C 30 “Harricana”. Larry passed away very peacefully in his sleep in the wee hours of December 1st, following a brief but courageous struggle with pancreatic cancer. Larry joined NSC in 1987 and was a long time volunteer on the Harbour Committee. As Harbourmaster in 2003 and 2004, he was a big part of the team that facilitated installation of the new dock system. Larry was also the owner and principal of Schooner Yacht Sales. His smiling face and jovial out-going spirit will be dearly missed.

The Canadian flag on the NSC flagstaff is flying at half mast, as a tribute to Larry.

A funeral mass will take place on Saturday, December 8th, at 2 p.m., at St. Patrick’s Parish, Fallowfield, in Nepean. A reception in the church hall will follow.

Arrangements have been made through Kelly’s Funeral Home, Barrhaven. Memories and photos can be shared by anyone on Kelly’s website. The family would like it very much if anyone has any stories they’d like to share at the reception, as eulogies are not permitted at the mass.

Larry’s obituary is available here.
