J24 Team Canada

J24 Team Canada, led by Michele Cimon, returns to New York City for the Lady Liberty Invitational Regatta 2023, September 8-10. NSC members Michele (trimmer), Zhanna Orazgalieva (middle), Jenn Spallin (mast), and Kirsten Carroll Somoza (foredeck), join helm Melodie Gummer from Kingston Yacht Club to form the crew for this year’s team.

Promoting Women’s Sailing Internationally

Hosted by the Manhattan Yacht Club, this event’s purpose is to support and promote women’s sailing by bringing together top female teams from around the world. Joining Canada in 2023 will be teams from Monaco, Sweden, Korea, Australia, Iceland, Japan, France, the UK, the Netherlands, and the host nation USA. Races are sailed on a fleet of J24s provided by MYC, used in rotation. The course is set amid the bustling traffic and striking skyline of New York Harbor, a stone’s throw from Ellis Island, under the watchful gaze of the Statue of Liberty.

The team thanks Jon Boocock for the loan of his J24 to practice on.

Wish our team the best as they step up to represent NSC, and Canada, on the international stage at the Lady Liberty Invitational Regatta 2023.
