On April 24th, Northwind Communications came to the NSC Winter Speakers Series and presented their new Hot Spot/WiFi system covering all of our anchorages along the Ottawa River from Pinheys Point to the Quyon docks including Mohr Island.

This is a project that a group of us, including Brent Landry, Mathew Eglin & others have been working on for the past three plus years and finally it appears that there will be decent coverage this summer for those who want Internet along the river and at anchor.

Hopefully it will allow those to work from their “mobile office” to extend a weekend or just keep in touch.

You can view or download the Coverage Map for the Ottawa River and the prices for the service from our Boating folder on NSC BOX.

Payment is made by PayPal, so if you want to try this service out, please make sure you have a current PayPal account before you leave your slip.

Because it’s a new service, obviously Northwind and I would be interested in your reaction to it and in particular about the level of service and reliability
