Peter Huszcz is the recipient of the Elizabeth Le Geyt Award this year for his very successful work with the purple martins in the two large houses that he designed and built himself.

They are at the Nepean Sailing Club and have been full for a number of years. The birds are all back now and starting to nest. Last year he banded 385 fledglings, and most of the returned birds are ones that were born and banded there. He hopes to band 400 babies this year. He also spends time working with children, educating them about the importance of the natural world and the protection of all the wild creatures. They come to watch him banding the birds and get some close contact with the babies.
