The NSC Speakers Program kicks-off with Derek Hatfield giving an inspirational talk about his 2010/11 VELUX 5 Oceans Race and the Spirit of Canada story.
All are welcome to the presentation which will be held at the Nepean Sailing Club on January 11th, 2012 starting at 7:30pm. Attendees are requested to provide a donation to support youth sailing.
NSC is thrilled to present Canada’s own solo ocean racer Derek Hatfield as our Kick-off Speaker for this year’s Speakers Program.
Derek has participated in three round the world races including the Around Alone 2002, the Vendee Globe 2008 and the Velux 5 Oceans 2010 and has accumulated over 200,000 offshore nautical miles racing single handed including two podium place finishes. Derek understands the sheer exhilaration and the sense of accomplishment in completing an offshore passage on a world class Open 60 and will share this experience with us with his presentation about the 2010/11 VELUX 5 Oceans Race and the Spirit of Canada
You cannot help but be impressed with Derek’s dedicated “never give up” drive as he carries our flag around the globe as Canada’s sailing ambassador.
