If you are hauling this weekend with NSC’s Commercial Haul Out, your cradle is being positioned in the Yard today (Oct 26) by a team of dedicated volunteers. You definitely need to have your cradle set up and ready to go by Friday (Oct 30).
Parts of the Yard will be closed this Sunday morning so that volunteer crews can lay out the locations used for cradles at Commercial Haulout. On Monday, volunteers will be placing cradles in the yard with heavy equipment and access to the Yard will be restricted until they are finished.
The Dinghy Park will be closing on Saturday Oct 24 2015. Any dinghies staying for the winter will be consolidated in the east side of the park, around rows S & T. We neeyd volunteers to move boats & clean up.
Good News: We have made plans to replace the wooden decking on the “inner sections” of both Dry Sail docks. The “inner sections” are the ones that connect the main “T” to shore. You may recall that these sections are disconnected each year when the harbour is closed, usually the 1w or 2w of November.
As the season winds down, please consider how the date you choose to haul out your boat has a significant impact on when you should expect to launch in the Spring. Please read our new Harbour and Yard post that explains why you should care.
A gentle reminder that, but for three exceptions, parking in the Yard is not allowed during the boating season.
The accident in a Gatineau marina on July 12 is a reminder for us all to put “Safety First”.
With the help of 12 volunteers, the installation of NSC’s “Goose Guard Mk 4’s” was completed this morning. For all you Geese out there, this is it, your final eviction notice to leave our Dinghy Docks (we hope!).
Unfortunately, it was a pretty wet evening last night, a little too wet to stand outside and learn about Cranes. While a few Members were on hand, we agreed to move the session to Saturday May 30 at 1pm. If you’d like to join, please meet near the South Crane at 12:45pm.
