Its time to get the 2018 boating season underway! To kick things off, please hold the date for the annual “NSC Member Mixer” and Spring Information Meeting on Thursday, April 26th starting at 18:30.
With sun pouring through our windows on the 2nd floor, the “vibe” at the NSC bar last Thursday afternoon felt more like Spring was a possibility. Well, “Spring” in the Ottawa-sense. Which means +5degC and a frozen harbour. Still, its close. Time for a quick update from your Board of Directors.
And, I mean that both ways: It is about time that we reported on the affairs of the Club. And, the only hesitation until now has been the time to do it. So, if you have time, read on….
Over two months since the AGM and past the halfway point to spring Launch 2017… must be time to talk sailing and boating again! Your 2017 Fleet Committee has been active these past months laying the foundation for another great season of fun and competitive club sailing.
2016 was a very good year for NSC and I am honoured to continue working as your Commodore for 2017.
Engaged, active members are one sign of a healthy club. Our upcoming “Annual General Meeting” is a meeting for members – for you – to actively engage with your Club. 2016 has been a good year at NSC and I am honored to host the “2016 AGM” which will take place on Thursday, December 1.
Well Frostbite Sunday racing has ended and the annual club haul-out has begun, drawing to a close another super NSC sailing season on the Ottawa River! Time for the final fall 2016 report on club sailing activities. It certainly has been a particularly active and engaging season for the member’s organised sailing program this year.
As I start to write this update, “Turkey Trotters” are gliding around Lac Deschenes in near perfect conditions for October. It’s October, time to focus on TDE: “The Dreaded Event” that comes every autumn to sailors in Ontario. But, before that, some updates from your Board…
Tuesday August 2 was the midpoint of our Boating Season, halfway between Launch and Haulout. Our “Summer Equinox”. Our Club is vibrant: social events, fundraisers, regattas, racing and members simply enjoying themselves and their boats. Your Board is beginning the process of looking ahead to 2017 with budget and strategic plans. For now, a few…
