Day 3, Sunday, October 18th: The third and final day of the Sunday afternoon Frostbite series finally lived up to its name, as the temperature rose from an overnight low of -5°C, peaking only at 2°C mid afternoon.
Gobble! Gooble! Gobble! Folks, the annual NSC Turkey Trot Pursuit race and Thanksgiving Feast is just 12 days now, and counting, on Monday Oct. 12th, 2015! Briefing (in the NSC Members Lounge): 10:00 hrs. Copies of the Special Instructions about course and start times by boat handicap will be issued.
The NSC Frostbite Series runs Sunday afternoons on the first three Sundays after weeknight racing ends*, which this year is October 4th, 11th & 18th. There are two races per day, with the first warning signal at 13:30, per Part F2 of the Sailing Instructions. There will be separate starts for PHRF, JAM and Dinghies.
Reminder, new this year is a dedicated afternoon of Dinghy/Cat Frostbite series racing this Saturday 26th! Come enjoy the warmth and light of a September afternoon of Dinghy-only series racing. 1st Warning gun is at 1330 with up to 6 races that afternoon. The 2015 Fanfare Regatta was held September 12-13 under rainy skies; however, spirits were not dampened.
Well its past mid-August already and weeknight racing Summer Series has concluded, and what an incredible summer sailing season 2015 has turned out so far!
Racers are reminded that per the Sailing Instructions, the first warning signal is made at 18:00 after August 31st. Also, beginning this week, Tuesday and Thursday keelboat courses are swapped back to as they were for the Spring Series.
A reminder to all skippers and NSC members: Please ensure that your regular crew (racing or cruising) are paid-up members of Nepean Sailing Club.
Fleet is pleased to introduce the “Crew Table” as a meeting place for skippers and crew on race nights. Building on an informal but poorly advertised practice that has existed for years, the Crew Table is intended to facilitate connecting those interested in racing, with those needing crew on any given night.
