The 3rd annual revival of the Lac Deschenes Open PHRF Regatta hosted by BYC was held September 19th and 20th. Saturday’s racing saw a gorgeous fall start to the day with the winds freshening from the south averaging 10 knots with gusts to 15 knots and building from there. BYC’s RC fired off 4 races in quick succession before the day was called early afternoon with the rain setting in with higher winds to preserve equipment (and crew!)for the next day.
Sunday’s racing started light winds from the NW in warmth and sunshine, but also built to a decent set of breezes coming down river. After the Mid-Distance race to above Aylmer Isle and back and a final short ctourse race, all the boats returned to BYC’s harbour to enjoy an afternoon social and awards before returning home.
After all was said and done, CVGR’s Laser 28 “Cavale” took top honors in the PHRF Div. 1 fleet and NSC’s Tanzer 22 “Snoekie” took top honors in the combined PHRF Div. 2/3 fleet. You can check out the full Regatta Results here.
