Nepean Sailing Club hosted the 2011 Canadian 2.4mR Championship on July 23rd and 24th. This was the first time the event has been held outside the metro Toronto region and the visiting sailors were impressed with the Nepean Sailing Club facilities, the friendly helpful club members and the warm water sailing conditions.

The Ottawa river venue provided a variety of conditions for the thirteen competitors who came from Connecticut, Montreal, Ottawa, Kingston and Toronto. Missing in action was Paul Tingley the current World Champion who was training in Europe and Bruce Millar, the class president, who had a family wedding in Calgary. Saturday provided warm water and an 11 to 16 knot westerly. Sunday was light with the Northeast winds never exceeding 6 knots.

In the end former Olympian Alan Leibel from Toronto prevailed.
