The 20 Mile Race ran Sunday, September 26, with a good showing of 16 boats on the start line for the last race of the ILD Series. It was a cool but sunny day that began with light winds from the southwest for the start, but then the winds clocked into the WNW and built to 15+ knots, with gusts over 20.
As was the case last year, the course was shortened to Pinhey’s Point and back, allowing the first boats to complete the course in under 2.5 hours. The 20 Mile Race happens Sunday, September 26, with a warning gun at 1100. SI Amendment #2 has been issued for this new start time, and to change the turning point to Pinhey’s Point.
This change follows on the success of the 2020 race, which saw a record number of boats participate; using CVGR’s yellow race mark at Pinhey’s Point also avoids us having to send a markset boat upriver, twice, to lay and later fetch the turning mark. The Brulé Bowl is for the first boat overall (JAM or PHRF).
An RC boat will not be recording finish times, so boats shall record their finish, per Part I, 3.1. Boats are strongly encouraged to record their finish with a photo, and shall submit their finish time before midnight on September 27. Taking a photo of the boat(s) behind you might also help them out, if they happen to have timing problems.
The 20 Mile Race is the final race of the Interclub Long Distance (ILD) Series.
