Three NSC sailors participated in the 2009 2.4 meter class world championship at Fort Myers, Florida Nov 2-9.
Supported by Fraser Robidoux and Patricia Smith the trio joined ranks with Scott Lutes of AQVA. The event which was sailed out of the Edison Sailing Centre on the Caloosahatchee River saw 44 competitors from eight nations race twelve races over the five day period.
For the NSC sailors the results show that we need to spend more time on the water getting more comfortable in the boat in all wind conditions. Peter Wood placed 32nd, Christine Lavallee placed 39th and Aaron Wong-Sing placed 41st.
Top Canadians were paralympic gold medallist Paul Tingley of Halifax third, Allan Leibel a former olympic sailor from Toronto sixth, and 2004 paralympic sailor Bruce Millar of Vancouver seventh. Christine and Peter have left their boats in Florida and will be sailing the Miami OCR Regatta in January 2010. The sailors would like to thank Fraser and Patricia for towing the boats to Florida and their many hours of work keeping the boats running in Fort Myers.
