The FAntastic Nepean FAll REgatta 2019 ran on September 7 and 8. It is our annual small boat, big wind event. Winds were the most consistent in living memory. All fleets had 12 races which is an outstanding achievement.

Our first anchoring clinic for cruising boats was held on July 14, and we were pleasantly amazed by the turnout. Teams from 16 boats enjoyed the technical presentation on how, where and when to anchor. Each year we recognize our members celebrating membership anniversaries of 10 years or more by awarding club burgees at NSC Sailpast. Check it out this year’s NSC Anniversary Burgee recipients. If you were unable to attend SailPast, anniversary members may pick up their club burgees at the office.
Now that we are well into the boating and sailing season, the Service Docks are an important shared resource for all members. As gentle reminder, the rules of the road for use of our Service Docks are found here: Service Docks Rules of the Road.
A gentle reminder that it is important to keep the walkways around the clubhouse and in the yard free of obstructions. For participants in the Able Sail program, the walkways can be the only way to access the yard. Please ensure masts and other items are not on any walkways.
Saturday (6 April) marked the completion of this year’s dock stripping effort! There was an outstanding turnout by members of NSC over the past three weekends. All together we were able to strip down B dock, C dock and a good portion of X dock.
It’s hard to believe that almost two months have passed since the Dec 5th AGM, time flies! First off I’d like to thank all of the organizers for the AGM – the evening ran extremely smoothly and we had a very high (possibly record?) turn out.

There is a new sound being heard around the NSC docks, as sailboats come and go from the harbour; it is the sound of nothing at all. Instead of all the noise and a face full of diesel or two-stroke smoke, more and more boats are motoring almost silently, on electric power.
NSC Martin 16 sailors Brian Peckover (Gold fleet) and Doreen Ames (Silver fleet) placed first at the 2018 Mobility Cup Championships held Aug 27-31 at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron in the northwest arm of Halifax Harbour!
