Be Environmental Stewards

Join us in our commitment to environmental stewardship! At NSC, we take the protection of our environment seriously. We provide waste handling facilities for the proper disposal of hazardous waste materials, and we encourage all boat owners to participate in responsible waste management practices.

Proper Waste Disposal Guidelines

At NSC, we believe that every small effort counts in preserving our environment. Proper waste disposal is crucial to maintain the cleanliness and health of the waters where we enjoy our favourite activities. Here’s how you can dispose of different types of hazardous waste responsibly.

Materials Related to Your Boat

To ensure the proper disposal of hazardous materials associated with your boat, please get in touch with us during office hours or reach out to one of our senior bosuns, Alex or Joe, on the weekends. The waste for proper disposal includes, but is not limited to :

  • Oil filters
  • Contaminated fuels (gasoline or diesel) or oils
  • Used bilge socks and oil-absorbent pads
  • Paints, gel coat & fibreglass sanding and scrapings
  • Fiberglas chunks and dust
  • Antifouling paint, chips and dust
  • Batteries (small like buttons and “AA”)
  • Gel coat
  • Blackwater

After-Hours Disposal

We understand that disposal needs may arise outside of regular hours. If you need to dispose of hazardous waste after hours, please leave labelled containers on the pallet beside the gas locker in front of the annex. Our team will ensure proper disposal daily.

Important Note

To maintain the sustainability of our waste management program, this service is strictly limited to materials associated with your boat at NSC. We kindly request that you refrain from disposing of other hazardous materials, as this incurs additional costs for our membership.
