Ahoy Race Officers, active or aspiring!  Nepean Sailing Club is hosting the CYA Level I/I Race Management Seminar April 2/3.

If you are interested in finding out what all those people on the Signal Boat actually do all day, would like to contribute to better racing in the area or simply want to learn what to do when you volunteer for RC duty, this is a great seminar to attend.

The seminar is split into two parts.  The Assistant Race Officer (ARO, or Level I) module, running three hours Saturday morning introduces you to all the individual roles that make up a Race Committee and how they work together to make a race happen.  The Club Race Officer (CRO or Level II) module focusses on the “macro” issues that define how a race or regatta is structured.  Attending the ARO seminar certifies you as an Assistant Race Officer.  The CRO module is a prerequisite for your CRO certification.

Presented by two long-time instructors, Ross Cameron and David Searle, this will be the roll-out presentation of the updated seminar that Ross and David have been working on for the past several months, which is designed to be much more hands-on and less theoretical than previous versions.  It should be interesting!

Cost is $40.00, plus HST.  For more information, go to:  www.ontariosailing.ca/Racing/Regatta_Officials/Race_Officers/Race_OfficerManagement_Seminars.php, or call Krystal Smith 1-888-672-7245 or 905-572-7245 ext. 221.

Hope to see you there!
