Sunday,  20 Sep – Part of the ILD Series.

The traditional Queen’s Park Race is the shortest of the Interclub Long Distance Series; the SIs show the total course as approximately 8.4 Nm. BYC hosts this race, which starts and finishes at “S” mark. Warning gun is at 1330.

A little background … In the late 1800s and early 1900s Queen’s Park was a “trolley” park on the Gatineau side of the Ottawa River that was serviced by the Hull Electric Tramway which ran trolley cars from the Chateau Laurier Terminal to the park. The area boasted lodgings, including the Hotel Victoria, picnic areas, tennis, golf, and many other recreational activities. The park itself is long gone, but its approximate location is marked by the street named “Chemin Queen’s Park” that is located on the Quebec side of the river, a bit upstream from Aylmer Island.
