Volunteer appreciation of open water swim

On September 26,  Counsellor Theresa Kavanagh held a volunteer appreciation evening at the Ron Kolbus Centre where she celebrated volunteer achievements. Richard Pessah, Judy Piel, from Bushtukah, Tony Wright, and I accepted an award on behalf of all of the volunteers associated with the Bring on the Bay open water charity swim for  Easter Seals.

While Judy and I were there, Tony and Richard were both absent, travelling.  Counsellor Kavanagh noted that almost 200 volunteers from the club and the community worked to provide a safe, fun experience for almost 600 swimmers this year, her included!

In all, your volunteer contributions to  the open water charity swim and the Club have raised almost $750,000 since its inception in 2007 when 12 swimmers and one boat started the event.

Best of all, it was fun to do! Kudos to all who took part!
