The National Capital Cup Regatta was successfully held on July 8 & 9 after a three year break due to COVID and a slow recovery from the pandemic. This year’s event had four entrants in Gold Fleet and four entrants in Silver Fleet with out of town sailors coming from Vancouver and Belleville.

Competitors were treated to breakfasts and lunches each day prepared by a volunteer crew led by Wendi Robinson Ley as well as regatta dinner prepared by the NSC kitchen staff and served in the Harbourview room.

Saturday racing was under textbook wind conditions with 8 to 14 knots of wind. Rick Anderton and his race committee ran three races for the gold fleet and four races for the silver fleet.

The safety/coach boat operated by Trevor Whitehouse was busy with minor on the water repairs as the Martin 16’s were going through their first weekend of active use.

Sunday’s wind only materialized for the gold fleet as they got one race mid-day. The silver fleet were skunked.
