The most ridiculous activity in NSC’s year: the 2022 Harbourmaster’s Race, Saturday 13 August. Big people in little youth boats sailing in the harbour. Open to any members, guests, staff at least 18 years old, including Advantage Boating sailors. We provide the boats.
Details
- Noon: Register on clubhouse deck, then go to sail training center to help rig boats.
- 1pm: First race heat, in the harbour by the clubhouse. Further races follow.
- No fee.
- Non-members need to sign NSC standard regatta waiver.
- Bring a PFD if you have one, and something to get wet in!
- Boats will be Optimist or Open Bic.
- Prizes awarded at NSC awards night.
Galley/deck open as usual, so spectators and family are encouraged. Supportive heckling is particularly encouraged.
Known strategies for the Harbourmaster’s race
- Swimming
- Lying across the boat like a walrus
- Gross amounts of pumping the sails
- Starting early
- A solid shove backward on a competitor’s boat
