Ottawa Riverkeepers, partners of NSC, are holding their annual Ottawa Riverkeeper Gala on June 1st, 2022. As part of their gala, they host a silent auction that this year includes a donated  real beauty of a 15′1″ custom-built sailboat. It was built by Cameron Metcalfe of Boatworks Ottawa, and he calls it a “beach cruiser”. You can see the boat and description here. Phoenix III is valued between $8000 and $10,000, and would be an incredible addition to a sailing aficionado’s fleet.

All proceeds from the auction will go towards supporting Ottawa Riverkeeper’s mission, which is to keep our river swimmable, drinkable and fishable for everyone. The auction also includes custom artwork, luxurious getaways, and unique experiences in the watershed.

“This custom-built “sail-and-oar” sailboat by Cameron Metcalfe of Boatworks Ottawa (Phoenix III) is a beautiful craft, perfect for an avid sailor, both novice and experienced. This boat is great for enjoying day sails or short cruises. Measuring 15-’1” in length and 4’-9” in breadth, this boat is designed to fit one or two people. The boat is built of quality marine plywood, with marine epoxy and a layer of fibreglass in the hull, as well as brass, bronze and stainless steel hardware. The boat comes complete with a Dacron sail from Dabbler Sails, as well as oarlocks, oars and some accessory mounts.

This boat is a one-of-a-kind build, and would be an incredible addition to any sailing aficionado’s fleet.

The Phoenix III Sailboat will be ready to take home on July 1. The trailer is not included with purchase.”
