We are pleased to announce the winners of Fleet’s highlight awards 2020. Boole Trophy for Outstanding Sportsmanship: Mason Nihmey. Weeknight Race Committee Volunteer: Nancy Halliday. Dumpers Plaque: Doug McGhan and Matt Davidge.

Mason Nihmey wins the Boole Trophy for Outstanding Sportsmanship. He demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and brought his Sabre 28 “Divine Wind” to every event he could. Mason’s engagement and improvement through the season lifted our spirits.

Nancy Halliday wins the Weeknight Race Committee Volunteer award. Nancy was our sole weeknight race committee volunteer, providing valuable operations skills on the RC boat, which were much appreciated by our race staff and our racers.

After several years of trying, including a PR campaign, Doug McGhan and Matt Davidge win the Dumpers Plaque. Their I-14 was by far the most capsized boat this year. Doug and Matt clinched the award by an elegant demonstration of the art of the capsize in front of the entire Turkey Trot fleet, with such a great recovery that they still won Turkey Trot. Practice makes perfect!

Congratulations to our highlight award winners.

(The weeknight RC volunteer award is a sporadic award, issued in occasional years.
Due to our limited race offerings this year, we did not award the Volunteer Regatta Official Of The Year or the Commodore’s Cup for contributions to competitive sailing.)
