ARO (Assistant Race Officer) Content:

  • Theory
  • Duties and responsibilities of: Recorder, Timer, Flag Officer, Sound Signaler, Line Judge
  • Basic compass skills
  • Setting and maintaining start/finish lines
  • Prerequisites: None

CRO (Club Race Officer) Content:

  • Theory
  • Duties and responsibilities of leading a Race Management Team
  • Regatta Organization
  • Compass Skills – Calculating race course
  • Prerequisite: ARO

Notes:

  • Registration price includes a Join the Race Committee Team training manual.
  • It is recommended that each participant bring a current Racing Rules of Sailing book, paper and writing utensils. If you do not have a current Rules Book, you can purchase one from Ontario Sailing by contacting 1-888-672-7245 ext. 223 or sales@ontariosailing.ca
  • Club Race Officer (CRO) Certification requires participation in a 2-day ARO/CRO Race Officer course, experience as a Race Officer as well as the submission of an application for approval by the Ontario Sailing Race Management Committee.

Saturday, March 28, 2020:  9:00am – 5:00pm
Sunday, March 29, 2020:  9:00am – 4:00pm

Fee:

  • Free for people who are members of any the Ottawa & Gatineau area sailing clubs. You must register and pay for the course at Ontario Sailing.  If you attend both days of the course you will be reimbursed by NSC upon proof of eligibility.
  • All others: $77.41 ($68.50 + HST).
  • Lunch is the responsibility of the participant.
