Back by popular demand, and specially for racers: Matt “Princess” Davidge, and Doug “II” McGhan will return to reprise their “insane adventures” racing International 14 skiffs at the 2018 World Championships in San Francisco. “ …an excellent presentation with great video/sound/graphics. Matt is a long-time high performance sailing enthusiast, who – when not found at International 14 swim meets -enjoys his Tornado catamaran, as well as bookending the sailing performance with his wife and young kids on a Sirius 21.
Doug taught himself to sail on small Alberta lakes in a plywood dinghy built by his grandfather. After a 20 year break he discovered sailboat racing on an O’Day mariner in NSC Jam fleet. Retiring that boat to family day sailing but being a tinkerer and adrenalin junky, the I14s in the dinghy yard soon caught his interest. He jumped at the opportunity to buy a Penultimate I14 in 2006. Now completely hooked (14s are Forever) and racing his 3rd I14, Booby Too, he looks forward to competing in future World championships inspired by the many veterans and friends in the world fleet.
The kitchen opens at 5.00 pm, and the presentation will start at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday is Steak Night. Members of all local sailing clubs obtain a discount on food purchases by showing a valid club membership card. Attendees are asked to make a donation to support the NSC Legacy fund.
