Thank you to all the volunteers who worked so well together last weekend.  We now need to complete B dock next weekend!  Please consider signing up for this coming weekend – many hands makes for light work!  You can sign up here: Dock Project Volunteers 30 and 31 March.

All NSC members are welcome to help with this important volunteer effort by signing up for a morning or afternoon time slot.  Members can sign up for more than one time slot; and, more than one day if they wish.  Each day, a short briefing will be provided at 0800 and 1300 hrs to cover the task, safety considerations and to assign volunteers to teams. Coffee/tea, snacks, lunch and beverages will be provided by the club.

We will be bundling and delivering wood to the dock fingers beginning the first morning until completed; then, teams will shift to the demolition, removal and bundling of the old wood from the main sections. Volunteers are asked to arrive ready to go by 0800 hrs on each day for the morning time slot; and, by 1300 hrs each day for the afternoon time slot.  Please dress for the weather and working conditions. Footwear that is appropriate for ice and snow, work gloves, eye protection and layered clothing are highly recommended.

The dock top replacement project is vital to our club as it preserves the condition of one of our most valuable assets – our dock network. By doing a good portion of the project through volunteer effort, the club is able to reduce the cost of this project significantly.

This year’s plan is to strip B and C main dock sections, less the finger docks which have already been replaced. A team of volunteers will also be sought to re-deck F dock, which is currently sitting in the public launch ramp area to the West of the harbour. Time and conditions permitting, a portion of X dock (the main East-West cross piece to which all the docks are attached) may also be stripped and replaced.

The weekends being planned for the project are 30 and 31 March; and, 6 and 7 April 2019.

If you would like to help contribute to this large project please sign up on-line.  If you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in touch with me through email: rearcommodore@nsc.ca
