NSC will host a Sailwave Info & Training Session on Wednesday, March 31st, at 7 p.m., in the East Room.

Sailwave is the scoring software used at NSC. So in our never ending quest to ensure the best race management in Ottawa, and an adequate supply of scorers for both our weeknight racing and weekend events, we will be hosting this info & training session for new scorers and those interested in learning what’s involved. Experienced scorers would also be most welcome.

The evening will cover the following:
1) Entering race results into Sailwave and publishing results.
2) Uploading results to the web.
3) How to create a Sailwave data file from scratch, define scoring options, format the results, etc.

Training will be in the NSC East Room, where we’ll be able to project the instructor’s computer onto the large screen. But all participants are asked to bring a laptop with them, so that we can work through exercises together. Please download Sailwave Version 2.02 Build 3. Because of problems sometimes caused by backwards compatibility, it is strongly recommended that all Ottawa scorers use the same version of Sailwave.

Sailwave is quite intuitive and easy to use, especially if the data files are already set up. Thus, we’d recommend that you download Sailwave from the above link and install it on your computer before the training session. On the NSC Regatta Organization Page, you can download a few sample data files and practice adding races, editing and publishing results. The more you know before the 31st, the more we’ll be able to cover that night.

There is an ongoing need for scorers for various weekend events, and in particular, scorers are needed for the NOD on June 26-27.

If you think you might be interested in scoring, whether or not you’re able to attend on the 31st, please send us an e-mail.

This session is open to anyone from any club.
