Nepean Sailing Club & Britannia Yacht Club are again hosting the Bring on the Bay Swim 2018 on
Saturday July 14 @ 8am. We anticipate about 700 swimmers plus the usual cast of volunteers including two Ottawa Fire Rescue boats, 40+ kayaks, SUPs, canoes, and 6 crash boats with 30 plus anchored keelboats/safety islands along the 3000m route across the Ottawa River & into BYC.

This year, we will continue offering a “Walk the Plank Swim”, a 1500m course. We are going to ferry them out to the 1500m mark & have them “walk the plank” & start @8:45am. By starting these swimmers @ 1500m, most should arrive at the BYC breakwater with the 3000m swimmers.  If you have friends & family not ready for 3000m, tell them of the 1500m swim. It will give them a chance to watch the 3000m swimmers from a great vantage point & cheer them on from ½ way before they “walk the plank” & join them for the second ½.
This is the 12th Bring on the Bay Swim. So far through these fund raising efforts, the Easter Seals Regatta & the associated Swim have raised over $1 million. The objective is to push this total well over $1,100,000 this summer!
This is a call for volunteers

  • To anchor along the swim route (15 spots left out of 30)
  • Kayak, SUPs etc. following the swimmers (the more the better)
  • Land side volunteers – helpers to direct swimmers, parking, take bags, etc. (Volunteer hours available for high schoolers!)

Come out & cheer them on from the lighthouse @8am.
