On July 13th, the sun fell out of the sky and once again, the Easter Seals Regatta and Bring on the Bay Swim went off without a hitch! Over 520 swimmers registered for the Bushtukah Bring on the Bay 3K Open Water Swim and 471 swimmers hit the water on Saturday morning. Winds were up a bit this year so times were a bit slower than in previous years, but the first swimmer still managed to exit the water in just over 38 minutes! Our thanks to the many many volunteers that worked tirelessly to make this a fun and very safe event.

Those light winds that slowed our swimmers proved to be absolutely perfect for our noontime family regatta. Twenty-four NSC skippers took 79 Easter Seals kids and their families out for a fantastic ride on the water on Saturday. The “Fleet Salute” around the Bytown Brigantine tall ship, the Black Jack, was truly memorable as the water fights and squeals of delight broke out. Thanks go out to our wonderful skippers, the fabulous crew aboard the Black Jack, our BBQ hosts from Century 21, and of course, our guest pirate “Captain Jack” who once again wowed the kids with his antics.

Thanks to everyone’s efforts, over $52,000 was raised for Easter Seals Ontario, helping local kids and their families. Well done everyone!
